At Home Pedicure: DIY

If you love at-home pedicures, you’ll love Luminess Air, a personal airbrush makeup system. Visit our website at MakeupJunkie.net to learn more.

Pedicures have been shown, in many circles, to be beneficial. Pedicures aren’t just for helping your feet feel better; when they incorporate massage, pedicures are good for things like lowering your pain, improving your blood circulation, and lessening your stress levels. Professional pedicures, though, are not something that most people are interested in having. Professional pedicures involve using the same tools that have been used on multitudes of other individuals and you aren’t able to tell whether or not those tools are hygienic. Thankfully, an at-home pedicure is something you will be able to do. If you want to learn how to gives yourself pedicures at home, keep reading.

Remove any nail polish with the help of a non-acetone polish remover (acetone is not good for your health). After that, you need to clip the toenails (straight across) and use a nail file to soften any rough edges. Make sure you use a toenail clipper to trim your nails rather than a fingernail clipper. The curve in fingernail clippers can cause toenails to become ingrown and cause you lots of pain.

Try to soak your feet in water. Let your feet soak in the water for several minutes. You can add things like lavender bath salts or other skin softeners and soothers. This helps the bath be more relaxing and truly pampers your feet and helps them to feel better. Virtually every bath and body area of every store sells things to make a foot bath better. Of course, several might cost a little more but choose the ones you like most.

Remove any calluses or rough spots that may be left behind after your foot soak using a pumice stone. Don’t use callus shavers or tools of that ilk. Plain old pumice stones work just fine here.

Wash your feet when you’ve finished with the pumice. When you’ve rinsed the foot soak and any callus dust or dust from the pumice, massage in some moisturizing lotion. There are many moisturizing lotions created specifically for the feet. Don’t just rub in in the lotion, though it’s fine if you are pressed for time. Instead, if you have the time, really massage in the lotion. Massage works to settle down your feet and, by extension, the rest of your body.

Once your feet are squeaky clean, callus free and moisturized, the next step is to make them attractive. Although this isn’t precisely a vital step, knowing that your toes are pretty (even if you’re the only person who can see them because your feet are stuffed into closed toe shoes all day) can do so much for your self-confidence. Cuticle pushers are the best option for pushing back your cuticles (trimmers can trigger many cuts and infections). Your first layer needs to be of a good nail strengthening polish. When that dries, you can try painting your toes in whatever colors or designs you like.

A do it yourself pedicure is often cheaper than a professional pedicure and oftentimes takes less time to complete. DIY pedicures are great for your whole body health, so get moving!
